First Communion Photography
First Communion is an important milestone in the child’s life. This momentous occasion happens only once. In a Catholic family, the first Holy Communion is an extremely memorable event. It’s the first time that a child becomes a member of the church and it’s also important to be able to have those memories documented for years to come. A great way to remember this special occasion is to hire a professional photographer.
My approach to taking communion photos is simple. I see this event as a rare opportunity for the family to come together and celebrate something very important for them. After the ceremony I like bringing families somewhere nice like local park and just let them be together.
There is nothing better than a happy little girl or boy photographed in a natural light without being overly posed. Things are relaxed and much less stressful when you let them be kids. Rather than concentrating on the child’s dress or individual communion portrait I let them have fun in the park with their siblings. It makes my photo session loose and easy going, so everything flows effortlessly without spending too much time on posing.
Phyllis was little bit nervous. 2020 was not an easy year for communions. Due to Covid pandemic the school postponed her daughter’s holy communion 2 or 3 times . Instead of May it eventually happened at the end of September. But I knew that autumn is the best time for a portrait session.
Their family photography shoot took place in the Wall gardens of Tintern Abbey , Co. Wexford. Eva looked amazing in her communion dress. Looking at her I felt like a wedding photographer 🙂 We spent there less than an hour and I delivered almost 90 lovely photos to them!

To make their memories well documented I created this lovely photo album from their favorite images :
